Stumbled on this via NotCot. I think its brilliant.
Ever bitched about having to wait too long to check in at the hotel? A wait that takes forever, a wait that sometimes camwhoring helped made it more pleasant, but other times, you’re just silently cursing the slow coaches as you wonder if those front desk officers who are processing your check in will get it done anytime today? (Ok I’m sure not all front desk officers are slow coaches, but you’ve got to admit that some of them are just plain pissy, grouchy and have this spiteful look that says – yes yes.. I know you are on a holiday, but I am not, so bugger off)
For those of you who arranges your ‘business meetings’ in one of em ‘day rate’ hotel rooms – say alleluia now! 😛
An invention has come along that you will no more face judmental stares and awkward wait while you are waiting for them to process your docs for check in.
Let’s hope this takes off!

A world’s first pilot is starting at the Clarion Hotel Stockholm in Sweden. ASSA ABLOY, Choice Hotels Scandinavia, TeliaSonera, VingCard Elsafe and Venyon, a fully owned subsidiary of Giesecke & Devrient, have joined forces to replace hotel room keys with NFC-enabled mobile phones. The technology makes it possible for hotel guests to check-in and out using their mobile phones.
