Hello… long time no see!

October 12, 2008 · 3 Comments

Wow, its been a super duper long time since I’ve updated my blog. Not going to dwell on the same old excuses, but moving on to whats up lately.

Moved in to the new house. Its been a tiring and crazy week of packing, moving and unpacking. Now that finally all the boxes have been unpacked, its time to place everything in its place and start decorating. Overall, its been such a fun and exciting process. Although its super tiring and tedious, but its just so so so so worth it.

Celebrated Lucias birthday last week at Red box then to MOS, had a blast with the gurls! Too bad some parts of the night were pretty blurry… arr… vodca has always been my weekness, and Lulu makes the bitter-est vodca mix… bluerrrgghh… (but I loved it). So thanks to Eric, now i have my own Absolute Mango. Shall wait till my booze collection reaches a presentable amount, then.. PARTAYYYYYY!!!!!!!~~~~!!!~~~!

Work’s been quite a bitch lately. Lots to do, last minute scrambles, oh well.. whats new eh?

Oh, gotten a new phone too, E66, so heres some pics from my new phone. :)

New house, everything new, except no new $$ flowing in.. argh. In efforts to save more money, we try to DIY everything we can, from painting, fixing the lights, fan, etc.

Here’s MR Ikeaman. Yeah, I know, the house is still a huge mass, Im sure its going to be another month or so till everything is spec and clean.

Kitchen cabinet in progress. A little piece of heads up to those purchasing from Ikea, it is so totally worth it to pay the assembling fee. Saves you loads of trouble. These men, can assemble my whole wet kitchen within 4 hours.

This guy? Hrmph.. took him about 3 days to complete my wardrobe, and on day 2 the bloody wardrobe fell on me! Major ouchie! And had a slight concussion I guess.

Wardrobe room. Whole 13 ft just for clothes and shoes… HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!~!!!!!!!~!!!!! Believe it or not, still insufficient place… wonders where all these clothes appear from.. sigh

Ok, enough of the new house.

Time to talk about some good food.

Yummy sweet sour crabs with fried bread.. only Rm15 at this food court in Puchong.. YUM YUM YUM!!!

Yesterday night, had a great time with Sayang & Eric. It is Sayangs birthday today, so we headed to Groove Junction in Hartamas for dinner and wine. Food there was not bad, we had the Rocket Salad, Fried Oyster Mushrooms and Lamb Shank. Well, no pictures, it was pretty dark and I was very hungry. hehehe…. Then Eric came, and join us for wine while we chill out to the sounds of Josie Thomas and his band. Pretty good, upbeat jazz tunes. Kevin was requested to go up to stage while they sang him the birthday song, and we had to dance to the LONGEST SONG EVER!! That… was pretty embarassing.. i wasnt high enough to enjoy it. But all in all, we had a super great time. Its 9am  now, gotta start cooking dinner in a while.. got this recipe from the new which I plan to try. Baked penne in beans, sausages, vege and chesse. YUM?? We shall see…

Also, heading off for happy hour with the gals in the evening.. YIPPPPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!~~~~!!!!!~~!!!!!~~~~!!!!!

Home Made Popiah

May 2, 2008 · 2 Comments

Im on leave today!!!!

Yeah yeah! No work!

But, well… being on smartmail kind of says 24/7 at work actually.. sigh….

ANYWAYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS… this short holiday was really fun so far! Had a lil RED PARTY with some buddies on Wed night, had a BLAST! Will upload pictures and blog about it later. Also, went to the home decor fair yesterday, very satisfied and… panicking about $$ now! But oh well, life goes on right? Part and parcel of being an adult.

Heres a little something that many dont know (or maybe its just me that is such a ‘jakun’)

Saigon Popiah!

Sis in law made this actually. I think its a brilliant idea for parties and gathering. Easy to make and fun to ‘assemble’ them too.

Here the popiah ’skin’. Its made our of rice. Its like a super hard plasticky thingy. Apply some hot water on it, and it will soften instantly.

It’s content should be corn, carrots, cucumber, lettuce, and i added eggs myself. Its different from the regular popiah. More like a vegetarian popiah.

Here’s how it looked all wrapped up.

And we also had the conventional popiah. With ‘mengkuang’ and all. Mom in law made it. YUM YUM!

The part i love the most is to assemble it actually.

May takes a BIG BIG bite… YUM YUM

Twist & Turn

April 28, 2008 · 1 Comment

So twist what?

Turn what?

Hehehe… Here goes!!~~!!~~!!

This is something I made last week. it’s a pretty common dish, but so far, have not made it for Kevin yet.

Drum roll pls……

Before I go into details, would like to share one of the suckiest spaghetti bolognese we have ever tried. Was at this restaurant called Salmon Steak in SS15. It was horrible in taste, and worst in presentation. Have you ever seen a dish that looks like this. Hilliarious how the cheese was just slap on the plate right?

ta… duhhhhhh

So, somehow, I was still craving for this dish, and was thinking, hm… why not try it on my own? My ex, used to make this super delicious spaghetti bolognese, I did learnt a little from him. So here goes!

Firstly, fry up some garlic. And saute the mince meat. (marinate mince meat before hand. I dump in some soya sauce, lea pearins, maggi sos, pepper and salt)

Then add in a can of tomato puree, some water, and half a bottle of tomato sauce.

And this was the one i almost forgot, tomatoes!

Let it simmer a little, then add in mushrooms. (slice the mushroom as thin as possible before hand)

And then in goes mixed vege (I know some people find it weird to have mixed vege, but I simply LOVE it!)

Simmer it for about half an hour, constantly stiring it (which I find it difficult as I am always caught up watching TV or on MSN). Add in a little salt, sugar and pepper to taste.

I let mine boil for about an hour before dishing it out. I know of some people who boiled for about half a day!

End product?

YUM-MY!

Black Black

April 27, 2008 · 3 Comments

This is……………….

Guilinggao!!!!!! (herbal jelly)

As I was having that evil cough last week, decided to make this herbal jelly, hoping that it will somehow provide some cure. Sadly, didnt really work. But tasted not too bad though, bitter sweet..  Thanks to the batangs for trying out.. :P

So it comes in a package liket his. Really simple to make, just mix it up with some water and boil. Stir till the powder disolves and wah lah…. jelly belly!

Pour it into little cute shaped cuplets, leave it to cool and dump it in the fridge.

Once cold enough, pop it out and ready to eat!

I took a HUGE bite!

YUM YUM!

Looks disgustingly black right? But its good for health and tasted… ALRIGHT la.. :P

In Training

April 18, 2008 · 6 Comments

to do what?

Be a good auntie!

I mean a good wife..

And as the saying goes, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” (which I don’t think its true anyway, i was clueless in the kitchen when we got married)

But…..

its still something we D*ckless species should try and learn. Either way, its a win-win situation. If we suck at it, Mr Hubby is gonna do the cooking or we will just be those people who eats out all the time. But if we succeed, yippee… we would be those “isteri mithali’ and can dissed it in Mr Hubby’s face! (bluek!)

Here’s some of my attempts, proud to say that, no one has ever LS (lao sai) before, so touch wood, may my dishes improve! :P

HERE GOES

I know, this picture is so discouraging right? But trust me, its yummy…
