Fabulous Feb!

February 17, 2009 · 2 Comments

February has been the happiest month in 2009 so far. It kicked Jan’s ass, even though Jan had the CNY. Feb has my birthday, and valentines day and we did a Cameron Highlands trip! Despite all this, we are just in the middle of Feb, bet there are lots more happy events happenning soon!

So whats up with me? As pics flooded all over FB, im getting lazier to update my blog. Shame on me, yeah, it has been a great companion when times are down and lonely, I should treasure having a blog more often. I would need all this little pick-me-ups when Im old and wrinkly next time! :P

With the CNY gone and done with, life starts again. Work, bad economy, major decisions, basically… like Edward always say… life sucks and you die. But for me, life sucks, try to make it not suck so much… then you die!

To kick start the year, officially (cos i know everyone was just slacking in Jan, before the CNY), me and a bunch of friends took a short weekend trip to Cameron Highlands. It was by far the best group trip Ive ever had!

We left for KL after a big McD breakkie, at about 830am. Headed straight to Bidor town, for their famous wan tan mee and herbal duck! It was indeed super yummy! Though we were still full from McD, but we cant resist pigging out on those yummy local dishes thats so delicious!

After early lunch, all stuffed and contented, we headed up to Cameron. As we were going uphill, the air gets colder and colder and I get drowsier and drowsier. Road was winding, was a lil bit nauseatic, apart from that… all’s good!! :)

Entertained myself along the way, to keep my mind off the nausea thats creeping up, I camwhore and enjoyed the breeze. Totally ruined my hairdo! But I loved it!

Upon reaching Cameron, we stopped for some sweet corns, oranges, vege and… camwhoring session full blast! hehehehe

The apartment we rented was great. Country Lodge @ Brinchang. At only about RM600+ in total, all 12 of us cramped into 3 rooms and a hall! Amazing eh! But there is just so much more fun and comfort being together all the time, and not forgeting cost saving too! hehehehe

At about 5pm, we started making dinner. Whats else to have on a nice evening with cold breeze and easy to cook? STEAMBOAT!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to hot mama Michelle who work the hardest on this delicious dinner. We bought loads of food, ended up with lotsa leftovers! But at least everyone is super full after at least 3 rounds each! My favourite tau kee is a must! Yum! Seeing these pictures now makes me hungry!

After that huge and satisfying dinner, we chilled out and started drinking. Heres the amount of booze we had to conquer in 2 days. hahaha.. Both nights were very eventful, thanks to these booze.

We spent lotsa time exploring the town, visiting farms and parks, and camwhoring together. Everything there was strawberry, strawberry, strawberry! Me likey!! :)

DSC03075

A must not miss Kea Farm. Its actually a long street of peddlers selling local stuff. Corn, vege, honey, flowers, everything so fresh and cheap!! I myself bought loads of vege and corn. Good for my diet now, been eating vege soup for dinner. Sadly, got hungry really quick and ate some other junk food before bedtime. Argh, where is the old will power I had?????

The strawberry farm is of course a must not miss. Went plucking strawberries at the farm, really good experience. :)   It was really hard work and good exercise crawling all over the farm finding the biggest and juiciest ones. Being the kiasu me, i hunted high and low for all the biggest ones, assuming they were the sweetest. Not nessasarily true actually… :P

Strawberry desert! YUM!!!!! There was a little cafe by the farm, of course serving everything to do with strawberries. Hungry from all the exercise I had plucking them early, had a huge cup of starberries & ice cream, topped with whipped cream! YUM  YUM YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

And as everyone knows, Cameron, the motherland of tea, there were just sheets and sheets of tea plantations all over! We chose to go to the all famous Boh Plantation. The ride up was quite a horror. The road was really small, was a very scary and stressful ride up. But, it was all worth it. The view was just simply breathtaking!

Our last day was quite sad. I didnt want to leave such a cool and peaceful place. Did not want to go back to work and face the city stress. Just want to spend some quality time with close friends and laze away the day.

But every good thing has to come to an end somehow. So before leaving for KL, we went back to Kea Farm to buy vege, flowers and corn to stock up in kl. :P

And got hungry, last meal in Cameron. Traditional charcoal stamboat!!!! Very pricey though, but it was a good experience.

So DONE with the Cameron trip, I still miss it loads, blogging about this actually makes me feel so nolstagic. Hahaha.. looking forward to more group trips this year!!!!!! Am working hard planning for another one now!

On with the next good thing.

5th February! My Birthday! :)

Sayang suprised me with a birthday cake! Was lazing in the room, not realizing he had a cake all this while in the car, and he said he is going down to do some gardening, and suddenly he walked in,singing the bday song with a cake!!!! I thought we were just having a simple dinner….. wat a suprise. :)

He took me to this place in SS2. Its called The Cave. Some how its also known as the Couple Cafe & Restaurant. Jeezzz… to think that there is a restaurant catering just for couples? Isnt it prejudice?  oh well…. anyways, there was nothing much to shout about this place. Apart from the unique setting (duh.. the cave), food was just alright, service was slow and the place ooze out some kinda sad vibe…

 Moving on now.. moving on

14th February 2009! Valentines Day! The day where love is in the air! The day where restaurants doubled their prices serving only couples set meal! The day where florist hike up prices for cheap flowers. The day where singles felt side lined and awkward!

Thankfully, my V day was nothing conventional. Together with a bunch of great friends, we decided to quit the mushy lovey dovey boring ol fine dining routine of v day, and decided that V day is all about love, and whats better than having to spend it with your other half, and also a whole bunch of friends! I truly believe I am lucky to be in a loving relationship where we treasure, respect and love each other so much, on top of that, we are both able to spend quality time together with a whole bunch of ppl we both love as well! This year, is truly the perfect Valentine. Its the spirit of love for my husband, my friends, who are more like my brothers and sisters, most of all, good food, drinks, decor and cherry topped by lotsa laughter!

We started early with the decor and cooking about 3pm. There was lotsa cutting of heart shapes, tying cloths, placing candle light stands, and final touches are lovely flowers from cameron that lasted all week!

Sayang was the chief chef, with help of sous chef Edward. Im truly proud of sayang. He single handedly made meals for all 11 of us. Soup, Main course, choice of lamb, steak or chicken. Its amazing of him actually, such energy. He was on his feet since 3pm, buzzing around in the kitchen, making everything so wonderfully prepared for the whole gruop. Im so proud of him! and… embarrased that Im not the one cooking.. but heck, its V day and the guys said they will be cooking and serving us all night! heheheh…

Dinner was lovely. We chatted, laughed, eat, wined, the atmostphere was just like something out of a happy family drama. Ambience was perfect, nice decor, lighting but most of all, we felt at home. Though we were all dressed up in shirts & tie and ladies in dresses, we still felt very comfortable, in a place we could safely say,our 2nd home! :)

Soup and main dishes…

Deserts. No notti thoughts pls.. :)

V day, was a memorable one, for me, and everyone of us!

Oh btw, despite me saying there is no need for flowers and present as V day is so over rated, Sayang still did get me a dozen of roses and a lil box of pressies containing all things Ive said I wanted and needed recently – A watch, 2 hair bands, 2 nail polish, 2 pairs of earings. I love my life… keeping my fingers crossed that things stay this way and hopefully get better day after day. :)

Sinking economy?

February 10, 2009 · 1 Comment

No need to repeat what every newspaper, blogs, magazines and saying these days. But I find these few tips very useful.. :)

* Hard work: All hard work bring a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

* Laziness: A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.

* Earnings: Never depend on a single source of income. [At least make your Investments get you second earning]

* Spending: If you buy things you don’t need, you’ll soon sell things you need.

* Savings: Don’t save what is left after spending; spend what is left after saving.

* Borrowings: The borrower becomes the lender’s slave.

* Accounting: It’s no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.

* Auditing: Beware of little expenses; A small leak can sink a large ship.

* Risk-taking: Never test the depth of the river with both feet. [Have an alternate plan ready]

* Investment: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
