Foodfilled Weekend

June 24, 2008 · 5 Comments

The recent weekend was a slow & quiet affair for me. Instead of the usual partying & drinking session, Sayang & I opt to stay home and bum around instead. It’s been a while since we have spend the whole weekend with just each other.

Saturday morning, we were busy meeting vendors for our new house. I was pissed and dissapointed that prices of construction material has increased tremendously. Thanks to our brilliant AAB, petrol hike has taken the domino effect not only on the FMCG industry, but hugeeeeeee impact on the building material industry as well……. @#$%$#@#$%^%$#$%^&^%$#@!!!! Most of the quotes I’ve gotten 2 months back, is kinda obselete now, and… oh well, got another quote, about 30% increment on everything, and I get vendors saying this

“If you put deposit now, still can get this price, if wait more more… price go up more more”

So what’s a gal to do in situations like this? Succumb into their blackmailing? Which I know is not plain talk, cos prices did went up, and speculated will still go up. Heck, I’ve been receiving spam mails speculating another petrol hike end of the year. Have received another mail on reccession!! I was too young during the 90s reccession to know what was going on, but I knew it was kinda a huge deal… oh well… life…

Back to the topic… weekend…

After meeting few contractors and vendors, we headed to cold storage to get stuff we need to make dinner. Was suppose to make Tiramisu for dessert, hence, ingredients mostly only available in Cold Storage. The keyword in the last sentence was “SUPPOSE”. Didnt materialized, cos stupid Cold Storage did not have lady fingers. So anyways, here what we made for dinner..

Vegetables is a must!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3148/2602677777_f51071974d.jpg

And favourite Shitake mushroom for me… Sayang somehow got turned off by the smell of this mushroom. Strange. He cant even take a single bite now! Oh well, alls good… I can have em all!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3156/2602677789_64cef7b31b.jpg

Sayang marinated the salmon with mixed herbs, lemon juice and salt. Place in the fridge for an hour.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3162/2602677803_98c790b558.jpg

Next would be the topping for the salmon. Got this recipe from my mom’s big recipe book. Garlic Citrus sauce.

Pound garlic into paste…

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3032/2602677797_dd95a9f882.jpg

Was suppose to use more of garlic, but I really cant stand garlic, so made very very little of it.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3221/2602677815_22be8a6a7b.jpg

Melt some butter, add in the garlic and let it simmer… Ironically, althought I hated garlic, it does have a very fragrant smell….

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3229/2602677823_0d62d2fab7.jpg

Add in some lemon juice… (we used up a whole lemon, but would recommend only 1/2 a lemon. Was a bit too sour for Sayang’s liking. Lovely for me, as it musked the garlicky taste!). Add some salt & pepper to taste. That’s it for the sauce. Really, pretty simple.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3086/2603524410_644de7b58b.jpg

Once the sauce is done, get those salmon steak into the pan. Heat up some olive oil, slowly slide them in when the pan is hot.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3024/2603524420_ec7957b7f8.jpg

Would be done once they turn a lil pale pinkish colour.

Tadaaaaaaaaaa….

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3160/2603524422_2fb4fbddff.jpg

My salmon steak with mushrooms!!!! YUM YUM YUM

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3260/2603524430_6016bbb2f7.jpg

It’s really a huge mushroom affair… had mushroom soup, with extra Shitake mushroom in it too! YUMMYYYYYY!!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3120/2603524438_079af35585.jpg

Had a super huge dinner, was feeling really stuffed. I didnt finish my salmon, was a real huge slice. Strange that when we bought it, was afraid it might not be enough, turns out, we have leftover. Good then, I plan to make Salmon sandwich for breakfast.

That night, we ate Kuaci and watched TV the whole night.

Next morning, we both woke up at 7am. Sayang has a golf session, so it was an early morning for us.

Sayang had bacon, ham and egg sandwich.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3050/2603524444_87ed39d7f0.jpg

And I had 2 different kinds.

Salmon, ham and bacon

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3048/2603529304_13006c03ce.jpg

and also Salmon & Egg.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3074/2603529324_487509e156.jpg

And for lunch, as Im still home alone, made myself more mushrooms!!!!

Stir fry mushrooms with tomatoes.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3256/2603529344_3eb18fd3e8.jpg

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3162/2603529358_ff95cd07a1.jpg

So all Sunday from 7am – 10pm, I glued to the TV!! Munching away at all times!!

and I kept telling myself all day…. THE DIET STARTS TOMORROW

Friday The 13th Party

June 17, 2008 · 4 Comments

Did anyone of you not notice that last Friday was a 13th? How could you not notice? It’s a superb reason to PARTAY PARTAY!!~~!!~~!!

So, in conjunction with the Friday 13th Party, we had a theme. Black, Gothic & anything scary!

And… we have costumes, decor, theme, music… we gotta have scary food too right? Who else to give better advice on scary food? I have just the right person. I SMS KY and asked for advice on how to cook worms and crickets. And most importantly, how to kill them? It’s freaking me and sayang out thinking that we have to whack them one by one or cook them alive? Wont they jump out? So, gotta ask KY, just gotta. Why him? That devil actually did a little cookout session with his friends, cooking worms and crickets. Check it out here. http://kyspeaks.com/2008/05/26/ky-tv-insect-cook-out-with-crickets-worms/

So here’s our SMS conversation

Me: How to I kill them? Scary man

KY: Put them in the freezer

Me: Huh.. how long?? I have not enough time..

KY: 10 minutes would do la..

Me: Oh.. phew.. great.. thanks

KY: Good luck!

2 hours later, back home, me and sayang took out the ‘ingredients’, and….. THEY WERE DEAD. NOT MOVING AT ALL..

Apparently the heat in the car killed/suffocate them anyway… oh well… prob solved. Just so you know KY, can kill them by freezing, or suffocating them with the heat in the car!

So after cleaning and washing them, I boil them too, just to kill whatsoever germs…

And here are the ingredients I bought to inject some taste into my cooking. Dah la my cooking sux… with weird ingredients, not sure how it will turn out. Took the short cut and bought those perencah belancan and ayam.

Fry up some garlic and dried chilli, and dump those protein stuff in…

*Caution: Once the worms shell is hardened, be careful! It POPS!~!~!. Ouch… I feel like them worms are taking their revenge on my skin!!!

End product? Tadahhhhhhh…. deep fried worms… Garnished with stripes of cucumber… Suppose to make it look more disgusting with greenish stuff, but I somehow feel it looked more ‘appetizing”. No? :P

And Deep fried cricket with belachan. This dish actually tasted good!.

We sprinkled the good ingredients on real food, the pizzas especially.

Blur case Mannix actually ate them, thinking they were anchovies! Found out only the next morning! Muahahahahahahaha….

So foods all good… really really good. Nutritious and… delicious? I hope… :P

Everyone was suppose to wear black. Some of us, took a step further and really dressed up to the mood. But I’m  so glad to announce that everyone dressed in black so no one was punished. Actually worked out a punishment for those who just cant obey the dress code. Whisky + worms + crickets!

I… came as the…

.

.

.

.

GOTHIC BRIDE!!!!!!! Specially hunted for a black veil, which I can safely declare does not exist. So, went to buy a white one, and sprayed it black instead. Thanks sayang for doing this for me! Muacks muacks muacks….

We had loads of fun camwhoring…. Ed was basically the Killer in black. As he didnt come as any monster or vampire, we thought he was simply just a guy in black. Then as we start camwhoring, safe to say that, Ed is playing the charactor if killer in black.

Ed’s trying to bite/suck off my tail!

Charlie’s Angels?

Edwards Devils!

Our fav shot…

And the soft porn shot, Hot Flo & the Devil in me….

Camwhoring continues with various mask and various poses. Just too many to post up. Check out my facebook.

Had loads of fun with Daily Lifestyle photographers. Check it out on their next coming issue!!~~!!~~!!

Next party???

RETRO THEME!!!~~!!!~~!!!

Ikea Ikea

June 13, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It’s really been ages since I’ve last stepped foot into Ikea. Yesterday, in desperate efforts to end the tedious process of shortlisting our vendors for our new house, we decided to pop in Ikea for a look see. Suprisingly, I really do fall in love with their concepts, designs and simplicity. Some may be a little pricey, but at least we can get everything completed, and not worried about being ripped of by contractor/vendors who would only produce hidden cost in the middle of the project. However, will still go screening through few more contractors next Sat, before making our decision.

Crap, being a responsible adult is darn hard work. I wish I could just reach out my hand, palms facing up and get money from my MBF (mak bapak finance). Easy way out. No more worries about not having enough for house and wedding, no more worries about having to save up hard now, no more worries about not being able to do things I really want to the house due to financial restrains.

- I want to have a nice glass ceiling, gaze at the stars before I go to bed

- I want to have a nice Balinese garden with mini falls and ponds with lotsa Koi fishes

- I want to have a motion sensor for lights. So whenever I step in the house, lights from different section of the house will automatically turn on when I pass through.

- I want to have a water bed.. cos.. you know… :P

- I want to have a complete audio surround system where at one clap, music would be turned on.

- I want to have a computerised walk in wardrobe where I can browse & assemble my outfits on the system and automatically the clothes I want would pop out from the warbdrobe.

- I want a bar mixer that produces any drinks programmed into it automatically.

Damn… theres really lots of things I would love to have, but I’m no garderner who grows a money tree, so I guess I would have to look at some realistic options.

Ikea, is absolutely the best place to visit to have the feet on the ground yet feeding your dreams kinda feel.

Sayang & I had a quick dinner there before starting to comb the whole of Ikea. Food there was good. Especially the  meatballs! Yum Yum!

We had a chicken curry puff, meatballs, salad, and bbq chicken.

Me & my fav vege, JAGUNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG….

After a wholesome meal, we begin to wonder around from showroom to showroom, debating on ideas we have. I noticed me and sayang, we have many different views. And we totally don’t connect. I would explain and visualise from another angle, and he would do it the whole opposite direction. But oh well, guess thats why we are so meant to be. Opposite attracts eh.

However, we both agreed on this combination for our wet kitchen. It’s practical for a outdoor wet kitchen, durable, weather resistant and not too bad looking eh…

As for my dry kitchen, probably will opt for something like this. White marble/granite top. Have bought a slab of white marble for my counter top. So gotta match it, yes? no?

Sigh… all this head cracking and mind blogging stuff on kitchen top material is driving me crazy. Theres just so many options. Granite? Tiles? Marble? Wood? Mellamine? etc etc….

But once and for all, its MARBLE! (cos i’ve bought the white marble slab for my counter!) <- Impulse buy at a warehouse sale.. DAMMIT!!!~~!!

Wanted something more funky looking for the bar, just like this innitially. But this is FREAKING EXPENSIVE! Sigh.. so settled for the silver scooped bar stools instead.

So bought 2 of this silver bar stools (another impulse buy). So white marble and silver? arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I dont think stools like this would be very comfy. Your backside would hurt if you sit on this for a long time, let alone enjoy drinks… oh well… I guess its just to accessorise the house…

There are more kitchen ideas from Ikea here, pretty interesting. Just got to find one that fits my teeny budget. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

http://www.ikea.com.my/complete_kitchen_2008/complete_kitchen_2008.asp

We went on a hunt for wardrobe as well. Since I’m planning to dedicate the whole room to my clothes, it’s a darn difficult choice.

Kinda like the idea of a open concept walk in wardrobe.

Think is moderm feel and easy to cordinate all my items.

Also definately need a shoe rack as well….

But the conventional panelled warbdrobe seems nice as well, and very organized. The open concept kinda gives be the DIY vibe. But sayang seems to like that more, says its modern and clean looking.

Decisions, decisions, decisions…..

Also as we look through some bedroom stuff… we are aiming for something really simple and practical…

But somehow really tempted but stuff that is funky, like this. Cool eh? Got this off the internet, Not even sure if anywhere in Malaysia is selling something like this…

But finally settled for the simple and modern feel. Easy to maintain as well…..

All those scouting and calculating got us hungry again. So we had another quick bite.

Sayang simply loves the hot dog! But I have to say that their quality of hotdogs has dropped tremendously. Oh well, no wonder its bloody cheap. RM1.50 only!

Still busy calculating measurements and evaluating options. Ikea does have lots of options and is flexible to customization. Downside is, there is some fair bit of calculating and trying to fit bits and pieces here and there.

HUNGRYYYYYYYYYYYYY…… Pigging out on curry puffs and hotdogs! (no wonder I cant seem to loose weight! Arghhhhh…

Have another month or so to finalize what we want for our new home… decisions.. decisions.. decisions…

Me, the sucky blogger

June 11, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m in Penang again… so it’s blogging day again as im stuck in a hotel with time to kill!!~~!!

Dum dee dum dum dum…

How do you know you are a bad blogger?

When you get engross chatting and eating till you forget to take pictures! This again, happened for the umpteenth time! Argh

Went with some gal buddies to this nice Korean restaurant in TTDI Plaza. Food was great, lotsa varieties, ambience was good and all… but DAMN… forgot to take pics of most of the food, and not even one of us gals in the restaurant. Was thinking to myself, if only Lucia was here, this wouldn’t happened. She always remembers to take pics! Sigh…

Thats what you get when you are not a dedicated blogger and some of your friends aren’t camwhores. Oh well… I’m a sucky blogger… who cares..

Moving on now…

Since the petrol hike, it’s been like a wake up call to me and my sayang. Looks like we got to really cut back on most expenses and trim in places we can. But we are already very mindful of what we spend, so how else can be thrift on? And with the wedding bills and house renovation stuff coming up in near months, it is just god damn stressful!!~~!!~~!! How can we survive through this year?????????

- Shop less, re-use old clothes. If you are bored with them, cut them, sew them, dye them, do anything to make them look different. Let’s just hope you will still wear them after the DIY session. :P

- Drink water instead of coffee. Maybe drop 3 drops of your colleagues coffee into  your water to physcho yourself with that little coffee aroma, close your eyes and down it! (why do I care, I dont take coffee :P )

- Stay home instead of going out. Dress like a waitress and serve your family for the “dining” experience. Or, get your hubby’s to role play as a waiter. And you as that arrogant rich bitch who gets to boss him around. Wait, this sounds…. ehem.. :P

- Watch DVD instead of going to the cinema. Re-watch all your old DVDs. Hijack from your friends, family, neighbour, etc. Nothing to watch? Make your own DIY movie and watch em!

- Eat less. Share food with  your hubby, bf, family, anyone. Good diet tip too. Chew more so you feel like you ate more.

- Dont drive. Car pool, take our sucky public transport or buy a bicycle from me!

- Use the toilet only when you really need to. Save water!

- Dont on the aircond unless you really need to. If its too hot till you sweat, smile and think “free sauna”. Save electricity!

- Dont club anymore. Have house parties. Like the one we are having this Friday the 13th! Yoooohooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!~~~~~!!!!!!~~~!!!!!!

There is lotsa more tips I can think of, but my buddy Ms WWH just gave out some really juicy info and I’m more interested in her news! I know, I’m a sucky blogger. Bye!

BROKEN PROMISES

June 5, 2008 · 3 Comments

I’m joining the hype of bitching bout the sad situation our country is in. No intention of influencing anyone, or creating any riots, or defaming anyone…

To the UMNO, BN, PM, PDRM, ISA, CIA, NSA, or ICA or whatever you are, pls dont sue me. I admit you are very the best! I’m a good citizen. I voted. I promise.

OK. I think I can start now that I have establish my ’support’

So, let’s see. Everyone in office is talking about petrol hike. Colleagues making jokes, some were seriously grumbling, obvious that everyone was clearly effected. About 6pm yesterday sms-es came in announcing this and telling me to avoid petrol stations. There were flash floods everywhere and petrol stations and jam packaed. Well, we can the most save RM50, for the next week till the rest of our lives here, its additional RM50 and growing. So, why bother…. Here’s the funniest. Lou tau called and said this

Lou tau: Petrol price increase you know ar?

Me: yes… stupid la.

Lou tau: Faster go petrol station and fill up the tank. Very expensive now

Me: Very jam la.. raining.. flood somemore..

Lou tau: Aiyoh, …. how to pump petrol now?

OKkkkkkkkkkk….. petrol hike, not demolishing all petrol stations…. chill lah….

I kinda dont care, cos i dont drive. And I’m like, so what? They have been increasing steadily all the time. People bitch for it for a while, and then what? We are still forced to fork our the cash and shove it to the petrol stations. It is not like we can all boycott and stop pumping petrol? It’s not like I can start taking public transport? They are smelly, stuffy and disgusting. (last i’ve been on one). I should cycle to work then. Relatively near. Only probably 2 hours to cycle… good excercise too. OK, am kidding. I don’t really care, dont get what the fuss is about.

But then once I gather bits & pieces from everyone, it dawn on me that this involves the whole nation, regardless we drive or not. Once petrol increases, everything else will… so… boohoo.. cry your hearts our Malaysians… its a sucky life…..

Why broken promises? Before the election, just few months back,  PM himself said that there will be no more petrol hike, until August! Yippee… happily trusting simple minded citizens went to pangkah to his favour. Now? Eat your hearts out chums! Your hero has broken a promise that is creating a huge uncertainty nationwide. Suddenly it is 2 months in advance, and at such vast rate? If he can break one promise, what else can he swallow back? And have they even considered the domino effect that this will be creating? Sooner or later, prices of food will increase, staionaries la, condoms la, clothes la… everything will increase.

Salary to increase? FAT CHANCE!

The best thing is, read this from a friend’s blog. Check out a comparison with other oil producing countries. So why are we comparing with neighbouring countries again?

UAE– RM1.19/litre
Eygpt– RM1.03/litre
Bahrain– RM0.87/litre
Qatar– RM0.68/litre
Kuwait– RM0.67/litre
Saudi Arabia– RM0.38/litre
Iran– RM0.35/litre
Nigeria– RM0.32/litre
Turkmenistan– RM0.25/litre
Venezuela– RM0.16/litre
MALAYSIA– RM2.70/litre

And she also wrote that Petronas makes RM80 bil????????  Read her full article here -> http://jennihsurf.net/

WTF??????

I’m hereby announcing that I will be opening a bicycle shop in USJ, send me an email.

I will give you a damn good rate, I promise.

No price hike, I promise.

Malaysia will be a better place. I promise.

Once you buy my bicycle you will lead a better life. I promise.

Cycle for 5 mins and lose 10 pounds. I promise.

I’m learning from only the best in Malaysia. :)

Black & Pink Wedding

June 4, 2008 · 6 Comments

For the longest longest time ever, I can’t seem to determine the theme for my wedding.

Once I thought of the “Fairy Tale’ theme, but seem a bit too corny

Then I have thoughts of doing a “Chinese” theme, which seem like such a good idea at 1st as I would want my wedding to be in a chinese restaurant. Idea went poofed when we booked a ballroom, which is nothing chinese-y. Oh well….

Then ding dong-ed on several colour themes, pink is too girly, white is just too pure for my liking, blue is my fav colour, but just don’t see myself in a blue dress for my wedding.

Then I found it! Black & Hot Pink Wedding.

Not too cheesy, not too cutesy, I think its chic, modern and so me!

Everything shall be of those 2 colours. From dresses, stationaries, cake, tables & chairs, EVERYTHING BLACK & HOT PINK!!~~!!

Found this on the net, looks interesting eh. (sorry to whomever who I stole these pics from)

And this should be so perfect!! Which wedding have you been to that has black table cloth eh????!!???? :P

For the day, I got to wear white of course. But my bridesmaid can wear this! I bet all of them will look great in this. Sweet yet chic. Maybe have a sach at the waist in black.

And my dinner dress could be something like this!! Am sure there is plenty of pink and black dresses.

So, all’s set then! This will be the theme of my wedding! Yippeeeeeee….

Had a lil chat with the groom last night.

Me: Guess what, i found a theme for our wedding sayang. BLACK & HOT PINK. Really really good combination. Check out these pics (Yes, i printed our some pics for him to see). Nice or not?

Kevin: err.. nice… nice… but..

Me: But what? Don’t tell me you don’t like these colours! I have so many outfits in these 2 colours ok!!~~!!

Kevin: Not that, I like… but… PANTANGLAH Black Black!!~~!! Old people might make comments……

Petrol to be at market price? Fuel subsidy scheme? Thats not good!!~~!!~~!!

LIFE SUCKS BIG TIME

At a cross junction of life, where ‘cars’ are honking for me to make my move.

Left seems less congested, no jam.

But right is leading to my destination.

HOW? Which way?

*honk *honk “MOVE B*TCH!!!!”

LIFE REALLY SUCKS

School children in school uniforms are ‘asking for it’.

School uniform is sexy!

huh?

School children are using uniform as a ‘tool’ to seduce.

‘huh’?
